The Water Tower – a monument to the Ruhr Valley’s industrial history

Museum-lovers are well served with Mülheim’s Aquarius Water Museum, which is housed inside a more than 100-year old water tower and has received numerous awards.

The Water Tower is also one of the 25 most important industrial monuments of the Route of Industrial Culture, which comprises a collection of more than 50 buildings, industrial sites and museums distributed over an area nearly 400 km long.
The largest Camera Obscura in the world is also housed in a water tower in Mülheim, in the Ruhr Valley, and is home to a fascinating museum on the prehistory of films.
Broich Castle local history museum

The local history museum housed in Broich Castle, Haus Ruhrnatur and a range of smaller museums distributed throughout Mülheim offer yet another host of other exhibitions.
The historic city centre

Hotel KOCKS is only a stone’s throw from Mülheim’s pedestrainised city and shopping centre with all of its shops, restaurants and cafes.

The historic part of the city centre on Kirchenhügel, near the pedestrian precinct, with its narrow streets, alleys and picturesque timber-framed houses has very much retained the feel and look of a small rural village.

Those interested in culture and live entertainment will furthermore be served well with the shows hosted by the open air theatre, by the puppet theatre, in the town hall, the Ringlokschuppen and the Theatre at the Ruhr.

Mülheim is furthermore located within a very short distance of the cities of Essen, Duisburg, Oberhausen and Düsseldorf, which offer a host of world-class entertainment and events such as well-known musicals and theatre shows.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us for more information on any of the above, other events etc, or if you would like us to obtain or reserve admission tickets for you – because we are always more than pleased to help!
